I have a pretty high power (for graphic design) MacBook Pro (2010) with the latest version of OS X installed. All of the threads I have found address similar issues but the other users either also have expansion packs or are running on Windows. I have scoured the MTS forum and the internet in general looking for a way to fix my current issue. Manually patching Sims 3 from 1.22 to latest
